Ford Motor Company is a headline sponsor of FutureTruck and has been instrumental in setting the direction and the focus of the competition. Ford provided the Explorer SUVs that the teams are modifying, $355,000 in seed and prize money, engineering consulting, competition facilities, and operational support for FutureTruck 2002, 2003, and 2004. FutureTruck 2003 was part of the many events held in Dearborn to celebrate Ford Motor Company's 100th anniversary. The Ford Centennial celebration was an unforgettable experience, with displays from all the Ford brands, concerts, and fireworks, and FutureTruck was right in the middle of it all with FutureTruck competition vehicles from all 15 schools on display.
